Karate for Kids

Our specialized program that has been developed for over 40 years
by Bryce and Debbie Johnson.
Our instructors are devoted to imparting the lessons of Karate to our students.
Bryce is a ninth degree blackbelt, has taught for over 40 years. Debbie is a eighth degree blackbelt and has been teaching for over 40 years. Amber (who is also the daughter of Bryce and Debbie) is a fifth degree blackbelt and has been teaching for over 20 years. She also works as a professor at Fleming College. Amber's husband, Jay Crawford is a fourth degree blackbelt. He has been instructing children and adults in Karate for 10 years.
Karate for Kids also has a large group of verified volunteer instructors who are devoted to instructing children in the art of Shorin-Ryu Karate. Karate for Kids believes in making an impact in the community and we take part in many charitable activities throughout the year.  We have developed various anti-bullying strategies and programs and have been guest speakers in public and high schools across the Kawartha Lakes and Durham region.
This class trains children from ages 5 to 16 in the art of Shorin-Ryu Karate. Bryce and Debbie were the first club in Canada to instruct children in the art of Shorin-Ryu Karate as well as training in various traditional Okinawan weapons known as Kobojitsu.
We are a strictly no contact club, children do not spar or make physical contact with each other.
We also instruct children in programs that combat the effects of bullying.
We offer two classes a week in two different locations. Registration at either club allows for students to attend classes in both locations.
Coming soon!
We will be introducing a new class that allows for parents/caregivers to attend classes with their children.
